Contribute to cutting-edge cancer research as a Laboratory Assistant II with Cancer Care Alberta. This full-time role focuses on supporting research labs, handling specimen processing, and maintaining quality standards.
As a Laboratory Assistant II in the Experimental Oncology division, you will collaborate under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager. Your responsibilities include preparing solutions, sterilizing equipment, and maintaining documentation in compliance with regulations. Additionally, you will assist with orienting recent staff and conducting quality control evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare shared solutions and culture media for experiments
• Sterilize glassware and consumables accurately
• Maintain laboratory equipment and spaces following safety protocols
• Support disposal of hazardous waste correctly
• Assist in the orientation of new staff members
Requirements:
• Completion of a Medical Laboratory Assistant training program
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly
• Previous research laboratory experience is required
• BSc. in Biology or a related field
• Experience in microscopy or flow cytometry is a plus
