Become a Heavy Duty Mechanic with the Township of Spallumcheen for a temporary full time role. Contribute your expertise in maintaining municipal vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure reliable operations.
This position supports the Public Works team from September 3, 2026, until December 31, 2026, or until the previous mechanic returns. You will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a variety of heavy machinery. The successful candidate will focus on preventative maintenance, welding, and record-keeping to assist in fleet reliability and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and repair municipal vehicles and heavy equipment
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
• Complete welding and fabrication tasks as needed
• Coordinate fleet repairs with external contractors
• Maintain detailed maintenance and inspection records
Requirements:
• Grade 12 education required
• BC Certified Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Minimum three years of mechanic experience
• Class C Welding Ticket certification
• WHMIS Training certification
