Our Data Center group is currently looking to add a Material Logistics & Yard Coordinator to our growing team, based in Port Hawkesbury, NS.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, we are seeking an organized and hands‑on professional to manage all aspects of yard operations including material delivery, laydown, tools and PPE, and equipment maintenance in support of an active data center construction site. This role starts as an individual contributor with the potential to grow into a small team lead position as project needs ramp up.
Please Note: this is a field‑based position working a shift of 6 days on / 1 day off, with 10 hour days.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee receiving of incoming material deliveries, verifying quantities and condition against packing slips and purchase orders
Organize and manage laydown yard operations including material staging, storage, and inventory tracking to support construction schedule requirements
Manage inventory and distribution of tools, small equipment, and PPE, ensuring items are tracked, maintained, and readily available to field crews
Coordinate equipment maintenance and servicing schedules, liaising with Fleet and mechanics as required to minimize downtime
Maintain organized and accurate yard records including material logs, tool tracking, and equipment status reports
Support site logistics coordination including material staging for upcoming work fronts and coordination with site supervision on delivery timing
Ensure the yard is maintained in a safe, organized, and compliant manner in accordance with Valard's safety policies and procedures
As project volume increases, provide direction and oversight to yard helper(s) supporting daily yard operations
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
High School Diploma
3+ years of experience in a warehouse, yard, or materials management role within a construction or industrial workplace
an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
Experience with inventory management systems and material tracking processes
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment
Valid driver's license
