Covenant House Vancouver seeks a dedicated Youth Worker for overnight shifts, focusing on supporting vulnerable youth facing homelessness. Engage deeply in life-changing work while empowering young people on their journey to recovery.
In this rewarding role, you will directly assist youth aged 16-24 who have faced significant trauma and challenges. Your responsibilities include building respectful relationships, addressing immediate needs, and offering resources to help youth achieve stability. You will work from a trauma-informed perspective, ensuring each individual feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet and welcome youth accessing services
• Assess and respond to immediate needs
• Initiate relationships with at-risk youth
• Support clients in exiting street life and gaining independence
• Provide crisis intervention and administer first aid as needed
Requirements:
• Diploma or degree in social services or related field
• Minimum one year in a low barrier, harm reduction setting
• Experience with youth facing homelessness challenges
• First Aid & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform various physical tasks
