About the Role Our client, a significant player in the global mining industry , is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Chief Health and Safety Officer (CHSO) to lead its safety initiatives remotely. This executive position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's comprehensive health and safety management systems across all its operations. The CHSO will champion a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with international standards and regulations, and drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance. This is a critical leadership role for an individual passionate about creating a zero-harm environment, offering the opportunity to shape safety policy and practice on a broad scale from a remote work setting.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement the organization's overall health and safety strategy and policies.
Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Oversee the risk assessment process, implementing effective controls and mitigation strategies.
Promote and foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization via training and communication.
Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.




Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management and the board.
Manage the health and safety budget and resource allocation effectively.
Requirements Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in health and safety management, with a significant focus on the mining or heavy industry sector .
Proven experience in developing and implementing robust HSEQ management systems (e.g., ISO 45001).
In-depth knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practices.
Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage safety programs in a distributed, remote workplace .
