Summary Of DutiesThe RPN works collaboratively alongside other health care professionals and will incorporate current evidence and best practice into plans of care for patients with various mental health diagnoses. As a member of the team the RPN is highly adaptable and flexible in a fast paced environment. The unit consists of adolescent beds, adult ward and a psychiatric intensive care unit.Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited ToAbility to conduct ongoing risk assessments and identification of risk factors for self-harm behavioursAbility to understand and respond immediately to patient reactions by applying de-escalation techniquesPhysical assessment skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving skillsDemonstrate commitment to quality improvement, ongoing professional development and reflective practiceQualifications/SkillsCurrent registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions to practice as a Registered Practical NurseRPN diploma requiredCurrent B.C.L.S.
