Who We AreArterra Wines Canada is a pioneer in the Canadian wine industry with 150 years of experience, dedicated to building wine brands people love.Role SummaryWe seek a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to serve as corporate legal counsel, providing generalist support across multiple business areas with focus on marketing, advertising, intellectual property, regulatory law, contract negotiation, and corporate commercial legal work.Key ResponsibilitiesContract negotiation, drafting and review across all business areas, including commercial agreements, IT, IP, marketing, and procurement.Provide expertise and legal advice on laws, regulations, and policies related to alcohol and beverage products, licensing, IT, privacy, product innovation, and regulatory compliance.Clear, register, and manage the company’s IP (trademark) portfolio and handle IP adversarial matters in collaboration with external counsel.Assist on exposure to other legal areas (commercial, corporate, M&A;) on an ad‑hoc basis.Coordinate with external counsel on specific assignments, reviewing preliminary advice and offering internal recommendations.Deliver legal compliance advice and training for product and operations, covering liquor regulations, food regulations, packaging and labeling, marketing and advertising, contract law, privacy, technology, consumer protection, and governance.Review or prepare standard form agreements and provide legal reporting, review processes, resources,



and policies.Support the General Counsel by coordinating with external counsel on general assignments as needed.What You BringLaw Degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from an accredited law school.Called to the Bar of Ontario.2–3 years of experience in a legal department of a large company or a top‑tier law firm.Experience practicing corporate commercial law, marketing and advertising law, regulatory law, IP, privacy law, drafting contracts, negotiating, and representing parties in litigation matters.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapid‑paced environment.Additional SkillsFluency in French and English (preferred but not required).Prior in‑house experience.Experience providing legal advice to consumer‑packaged goods, food and beverage, consumer digital or regulated product industries.Previous advising experience in industries regulated by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.What We OfferHybrid work model (current) with the possibility of up to 5 days a week in‑person as directed.Competitive salary range: $97,301.00 – $133,789.00.Benefits including tuition reimbursement.A chance to explore and learn more about the wine industry.EEO StatementWe are committed to establishing a qualified workforce that reflects the diverse population it serves and we encourage applications from all qualified individuals.
