Job OverviewWe are looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Tunnel Inspector (Construction Support) to support an iconic construction project in Vancouver.In this position, you will work alongside senior geotechnical and structural engineers and mentor junior members of the team.ResponsibilitiesProviding full‑time inspection services during the construction of multiple elements of this critical project – including underground shaft and tunnel excavation, support of excavations, pre‑excavation grouting, steel pipe installation, and backfill grouting.Providing field engineering support for mechanically excavated tunnels and shafts in sedimentary rock sequences, including systematic geological mapping of shaft and tunnel faces, assessing and monitoring probe holes and grouting requirements, design review and field verification of rock support systems, and evaluating excavation performance against expected behaviour.Preparing daily shift reports capturing HSE, progress, labour, equipment, materials, and quality of the work during daily shifts. Night shifts are typically 10 hrs/day, 5 days/week, with occasional longer hours or 6 days/week to support the construction schedule. Preferred candidate will be willing to work night shifts only.Working collaboratively with Engineering, Contracting Authority and Contractor teams to support overall project delivery – reviewing submittals and requests for information, managing and coordinating engineer inspections,



monitoring excavation performance, witnessing and providing sign‑off at construction hold points, and communicating key issues to the relevant teams.Candidate SpecificationThe right candidate is a versatile and creative thinker who is comfortable in a construction site‑based role and can provide practical solutions.RequirementsAcademic background: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (asset).Minimum 5–10 years of relevant industry/project experience, including underground construction – particularly shaft and tunnel excavations and geological mapping (full‑time site experience is an asset).Knowledge and experience of implementing or constructing design solutions on site.Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; able to collaborate with all staff levels and clients and nurture junior staff development.Ability and enthusiasm for supervising the work of others, including checking and approving key deliverables.Requirement to work up to 10 hrs per day, Monday to Friday, including evenings and night shift.SalaryThe expected salary range for this position is $75,000 – $91,000.Equal OpportunityWe seek to promote fair employment procedures and practices to ensure equal opportunities for all.
