Over 120,000 customers use Microchip’s solutions across industrial, automotive, consumer, aerospace, defense, communications, and computing markets.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and execute comprehensive silicon and system validation plans to ensure compliance with functional specifications.Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues in post‑silicon environments, ensuring robust product performance.Create and implement RTL for CPLDs and FPGAs to support validation efforts.Design and optimize high‑speed boards to enable rigorous testing and validation.Build and enhance validation tools, including embedded software, device drivers, and test automation scripts.Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and fostering a collaborative team workplace.Partner with architects and designers to influence the architecture and features of next‑generation products.Lead complex test execution and conduct investigations in a lab environment on‑site and remotely.Find and report bugs, working with cross‑expertise teams to isolate, investigate, and solve problems.Required QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
or related field.5+ years of relevant experience for a Principal Engineer role (other experience levels considered for exceptional candidates).Proficiency in scripting (e.G., Python, Perl, or similar).Strong expertise in C and/or embedded C programming.Deep understanding of digital systems and computer architecture.Ability to develop and execute functional validation plans, including creating supporting software.Experience in IC and SoC validation.Experience working with prototype ICs, boards, and hardware infrastructure.Experience working in a lab environment and knowledge of relevant test equipment and protocol analyzers.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across teams and present technical insights.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of PCI/PCIe/CXL system architecture and/or NVMe storage interfaces.Knowledge of I2C/I3C/SMBus interfaces.Experience developing device drivers for Windows or Linux.Familiarity with lab equipment such as protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.Experience in high‑speed digital design and board‑level development.Experience testing and debugging high‑speed SERDES.Knowledge of FPGA design tools and VHDL/Verilog coding.A passion for tackling complex technical challenges and driving solutions.Travel / CompensationTravel Time: 0% - 25%Pay Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $86,000 - $186,000.
