Structures Foreman (Kingston)The foreman provides leadership, schedules, coordinates, supervises and ensures the productivity and safety of the work crew and the public. As a key participant in the relationship with the client, consultants and the company, the foreman acts as a management liaison and a client interfaceLocation:Kingston ONVacancy:ReplacementDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The foreman must promote a secure work culture, is accountable for the safety of the crew as well as the general publicKnowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulationsHealth and Safety Act) and safety policies and procedures outlined in the company policyCompleting incident and other safety reports in a timely mannerLeads the crew and is accountable for how the crew completes assigned workCommunicating and assigning individual tasks to a member or members of his crewSetting work standards and outlining behavioural expectations to ensure crew morale and productivityInteracting with other company supervisors, inspectors and clientsFollowing the project plans and schedules and ensuring that the crew’s daily and weekly activities meet production goalsUnderstanding the work at hand,
organize the workforce and equipmentDiscussing and planning with the manager/superintendent the proposed workCompleting administrative tasks as requiredEnsuring that the completed work meets the specificationsEnsuring proper techniques are utilized to achieve the highest possible workmanship and quality of workInspecting the completed work and initiating timely resolutions if requiredRead and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to guide work (e.G., formwork, rebar installation, concrete pours, beam/girder placement, deck finishing, flat work finishing)WORKING CONDITIONSWork on a construction siteLong hours required, night and weekend work requiredPossible out of town workExposure to all elements – summer heat, rain etc.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECompletion of secondary school is usually requiredLead Hand or Acting Forman experience for 3+ years and 5+ industry field experienceCOMPENSATION INFORMATION:The hourly rate this position is $42.60 as per the collective agreement.The Tomlinson Group of Companies encourages applications from all qualified candidates.
