We’re looking for someone to work closely with our product, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure Dropbox continues to be an industry leader in protecting user data, implementing privacy by design, responding to security incidents, and using AI and machine learning technology responsibly. (This role will be filled at the Associate Counsel or Counsel level, depending on experience.)ResponsibilitiesCounsel on user privacy and data protection issues in a dynamic and evolving environmentInvestigate and assess security and privacy incidents, analyze legal responsibilities, and drive legal and regulatory responsesProvide legal support to Dropbox’s incident response program, which deals with a wide range of business issues beyond security and privacyAdvise on cross-functional company projects related to data protection, privacy by design, and AI and machine learningReview new products and features for launch readinessProvide sophisticated advice to engineers working on security, threat intelligence, and abuse issuesRequirements1–3+ years of experience counseling and/or litigating product, security, or data privacy mattersBroad knowledge of data privacy law, information security and cybersecurity, AI/ML, copyright,



consumer protection, content regulation, and free expression issuesExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to varied audiencesStrong business judgment and practical, solutions-oriented approachOutstanding interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and adapt in a fast-paced, agile environmentWillingness to support incident response outside of traditional business hours, as neededJ.D. from an accredited law school, admission in good standing to at least one U.S. state bar, and strong academic credentialsPreferred QualificationsDeep expertise in, and demonstrated passion for, technologyPrior experience supporting SaaS, AI, or other online businesses, either in-house or as outside counselExperience counseling on or managing incident response and/or broader security program mattersLocated in the Pacific Time ZoneCompensationCanada Pay Range$138,600—$187,500 CADThe range listed above is the expected annual salary/OTE (On-Target Earnings) for this role, subject to change.Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package.
