Our client assists and represents victims of workplace and motor vehicle accidents in their claims and proceedings before the CNESST and SAAQ, helping them assert their rights and obtain the compensation to which they are entitled. PROGARDE is looking to hire a litigation lawyer to support its growth and respond to increasing operational needs. The successful candidate, who will act as the organization’s designated representative with the Barreau du Québec, will primarily handle matters involving the SAAQ, CNESST, the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) and the Tribunal administratif du Québec (TAQ).
This position is intended for a professional who can work independently within a multidisciplinary environment, represent clients with diligence and professionalism, and contribute to the quality of service provided to a vulnerable clientele.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing and overseeing files involving administrative law, particularly matters related to the SAAQ and CNESST
Assurer la prise en charge et le suivi de dossiers en matière de droit administratif, plus particulièrement en matière de SAAQ et de CNESST
- Representing clients and arguing cases before the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) and the Tribunal administratif du Québec (TAQ)
- Meeting with clients, assessing their needs, and providing professional guidance throughout their case
- Reviewing files and providing legal opinions based on information and analyses prepared internally
- Advising clients on potential strategies, courses of action, and available remedies
- Working closely with a multidisciplinary team that includes professionals providing medical support, case management, and legal assistance
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant legal practice experience
- Significant experience with SAAQ and CNESST matters and representing clients before the relevant administrative tribunals
- A high degree of autonomy, accountability, and the ability to work without daily supervision
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to adapt their approach to each client’s individual circumstances
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with vulnerable clients
- A strong team-oriented mindset and willingness to work within a collaborative environment
- Experience working in legal aid will be considered an asset
Working conditions and environment
- Full time position based on a 35-hour work week
- Annual salary starting at $100,000, with flexibility based on the candidate’s experience, expertise, and overall profile
- Expense account provided
- Travel is required as part of the role; related expenses, including accommodation when necessary, are covered by the employer
- Remote work opportunities, with access to office space in Laval
Travel & Territory
The successful candidate must be available to travel based on operational needs, particularly within Laval, Brossard, Trois-Rivières, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, and potentially Gatineau.
