aKin is a Michelin starred fine dining restaurant in the heart of Toronto, led by Chef Eric Chong, the first winner of MasterChef Canada and recipient of the Michelin Guide Toronto 2025 Young Chef Award, alongside his mentor and partner, Three Michelin starred Chef Alvin Leung.
Since opening in November 2024, aKin has earned one Michelin Star, been named one of Air Canada’s enRoute Best New Restaurants 2025, and placed 27th on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list.
aKin offers a 10 course blind tasting menu that reimagines Asian flavours through a up-to-date fine dining lens. The menu draws from Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Hong Kong culinary traditions, combining classic techniques, modern applications, premium ingredients, thoughtful beverage pairings, and highly detailed service.

Job Description
aKin is looking for a Full Time Host to join our front of house team.
This role is ideal for someone who is warm, organized, professional, and detail oriented. As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the host plays an important role in setting the tone for the entire dining experience.
The position involves managing reservations, greeting and seating guests, maintaining the flow of service, supporting guest communication, confirming dietary restrictions and special occasions, and ensuring the front entrance, host area, coat area, and guest bathrooms are clean, polished, and properly maintained.
The right candidate should be calm under pressure, confident communicating with guests, and comfortable taking ownership of the guest experience in a small, fast paced fine dining environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival
- Manage reservations, guest notes, and seating flow through OpenTable
- Confirm reservations, dietary restrictions, allergies, celebrations, and special requests when needed
- Assist with seating guests and maintaining the pacing and flow of service
- Communicate clearly with the service team regarding arrivals, guest preferences, allergies, celebrations, and VIPs
- Answer guest inquiries by phone and email when needed
- Maintain accurate guest profiles and reservation notes
- Support the front of house team during service where needed
- Ensure the host stand, entrance, coat area, and guest bathrooms remain clean, polished, and organized
- Assist with polishing, resetting, menus, and other light service duties as required
- Help create a warm, polished, and seamless guest experience from arrival to departure
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hosting, or hospitality experience required
- Fine dining experience is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, warm, and composed guest presence
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Familiarity with OpenTable is an asset
- Comfortable working full time hours, including evenings and weekends
- Mandarin speaking is an asset
- A genuine interest in hospitality, fine dining, and guest experience
