In this role, you’ll help develop, enhance, and maintain internal business applications used across the organization, working with both legacy systems and modern solutions. For the eighth consecutive year, we are recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employer’s for 2026 - we offer fantastic career and development opportunities, with all of our profits going to charity and good causes.What You’ll Be DoingDevelop internal applications using a variety of tools and technologies such as Claris FileMaker, SQL Server, JavaScript, HTML, and CSSUse UI/UX best practices to design and implement clean, intuitive, user-friendly solutionsMaintain and support legacy internal systems while contributing to modernizing application components over timeBuild custom integrations and work with APIs and microservices to connect internal platforms and automate workflowsParticipate and assist in code reviews, testing, debugging, requirements gathering, and documentationWork closely with team members and business users to understand requirements and translate them into practical, usable, well-designed solutionsSupport change requests, tickets, minor enhancements, and production fixes as neededContribute to the continuous improvement of documentation, development standards, and coding practicesWhat You’ll Need To HaveFormal education in Computer Science, Software Development,
or equivalent training/experience1–2 years of related qualified experienceExperience working with databases; FileMaker knowledge is an assetProficiency in SQL Server and writing SQL queriesStrong foundational skills in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web technologiesBasic UI/UX design capabilities, with the ability to interpret requirements and contribute to interface designComfortable working collaboratively in a team environmentStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and handle multiple small tasks or work itemsWhat Makes You Stand OutDemonstrated passion for purpose-driven work and contributing to meaningful initiativesExperience with system integrations and working with RESTful APIsExposure to additional scripting languages beyond JavaScript (e.G., Python, PHP, etc.)Familiarity with the .NET framework and related development environmentsExperience working in the insurance or financial services sectorsStrong collaborative mindset with comfort in agile, team-based environmentsWhat We OfferAtEcclesiastical Insurance, we believe work should feel rewarding — and we mean that in every way!
