Compensation Range$50,000-$66,000About the RoleWe are looking for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician to join our team at Buckhead Vancouver. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, supporting, and evaluating food safety and quality programs across our operations. You will oversee inspection and audit procedures to ensure processes and finished products meet all corporate standards as well as federal, provincial, and industry regulatory requirements. The FSQA Technician plays a vital role in safeguarding food safety, maintaining product integrity, and protecting customer trust by ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement in quality assurance practices.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the update and implementation of the HACCP / SQF ProgramsMaintain and update the Sanitation Standard Operating ProceduresPest Control knowledgeGood Manufacturing PracticesApproved Supplier Program (raw material audits)Foreign Material Control knowledgeAllergen Program managementPlant Sanitation knowledge and practicesChemical Control knowledgeProduct Quality Assurance (this involves sample preparation, cook test, visual, organoleptic and possibly tasting of products) – candidate must be able to eat meat and fish/seafood productsProduct quality (visual standards, label standards, adherence to specifications)FSQA Customer Complaints review and answerFood Defense and SecurityAssist in Employee Training of FSQA Programs, Policies and ProceduresAssist in Implementation of FSQA Audit Program – SQF AuditsProvide assistance when necessary for product evaluations, plant visits,
and supplier/customer communication to assist other staff members.Assist as needed in any manner capable of during emergency situations the Operations Director determines are paramount to the businessSecondary contact for food regulatory agencies (specifically CFIA)Maintain the Raw material and Finished product specificationsObtaining raw material ingredient specificationsAssist in completion of other QA Department functionsAvailable to work flexible hours as needed by the businessComplies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.Ability to work 5am shifts, as needed.Availability to work evenings and weekends,
