A senior-level Cost Manager M&E; focused on pre-contract cost planning across major building projects in Canada and the USA.This is a technical quantity surveyor job offering exposure to healthcare, commercial, residential and data centre developments valued up to $1bn, with relocation support and an excellent benefits package.This quantity surveyor vacancy is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Experience gained in Canada, the UK/Ireland or suitable experience or competence gained internationally is welcomed, and visas will be obtained by the employer for international candidates and their families.The successful Cost Manager M&E; candidate will support the delivery of major traditional building projects, with work focused on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E;) building services.Project sectors include healthcare facilities, large commercial developments, high-rise residential schemes and complex data centres. Individual project values range from small specialist packages through to flagship developments of up to CAD $1bn in total value.Responsibilities and DutiesThis is a technically focused cost management role within an established buildings cost consultancy team, working predominantly in the pre-contract phase.Key responsibilities will include:Preparing detailed M&E; cost plans, estimates and budgets for large-scale building projectsUndertaking elemental and detailed cost analysis for both mechanical and electrical servicesManaging multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict internal deadlinesProviding cost advice during concept, schematic and detailed design stagesReviewing designs,
specifications and drawings to identify cost risks and opportunitiesProducing tender documentation and supporting procurement strategies where requiredEvaluating tender returns and preparing cost reports for internal useWorking closely with internal cost management and engineering teamsMaintaining accurate cost data and benchmarks for future projectsDesired Skills and ExperienceThis role would suit an experienced Senior Cost Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong technical M&E; capability.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:Approximately 10 years’ experience in cost management or quantity surveyingProven experience covering both mechanical and electrical building servicesStrong background in traditional building projects such as healthcare, commercial or residential developmentsExtensive pre-contract cost planning experienceAbility to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing deadlinesHigh attention to detail and strong analytical skillsExperience working in a technical, non-client-facing role environmentConfidence working on large, complex projects, including projects of very high valueQualifications/Educational RequirementsDegree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Project Management or a related construction disciplineProfessional accreditation or working towards professional membership is desirable (RICS, CIQS, etc.)Employing Company Overview and ProfileMaxim Recruitment is acting as a recruitment consultancy on behalf of a well-established international cost consultancy with a solid presence in Canada.The employer specialises in providing high-quality cost management and advisory services on major building projects across multiple sectors, including healthcare, commercial, residential and mission-critical facilities.The business is known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture and long-term career development opportunities for experienced professionals.
