Job DescriptionSite ManagerReports to:General ManagerSalary:£55,000–£60,000Location:SuffolkWe are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join the senior management team and play a keyrole within a commercial horticultural enterprise. This position oversees one of our main production sites and plays a vital part in ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, robust team performance, and consistent crop output.The ideal candidate will be a proactive, hands‑on leader with solid technical knowledge of fruit production and the ability to organise people, processes, and resources effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational OversightPlan and manage day‑to‑day growing activities, including crop establishment, irrigation, harvest operations, and general husbandryMonitor crop development and make informed decisions to maintain quality and yieldTeam LeadershipManage a mixed team of permanent, temporary, and contract staffCoordinate training, schedules, and daily work plansPromote a positive, safe, and efficient working cultureMachinery & Site MaintenanceOversee servicing and repairs of equipment, vehicles, and facilitiesEnsure all machinery is used safely and appropriatelyMaintain a tidy, well‑run, and regulation‑compliant siteCompliance & Health and SafetyEnsure full compliance with horticultural, labour,
and environmental regulationsImplement and maintain health and safety proceduresKeep accurate and timely records as requiredAdministration & PlanningContribute to budgeting, cost control, and forward planningHandle purchasing of materials and contracted services within authorised limitsProvide regular operational reports and updates to the General ManagerQuality & SustainabilitySupport high product standards and uniformity across the siteApply best practices for sustainable production and resource managementMonitor soil health, water use, and general site conditionRequired Skills & ExperienceFull driving license (Category B)Proven background in managing farming or horticultural operationsExperience leading and organising staff teamsUnderstanding of budgets and commercial decision‑makingStrong technical knowledge of crop production, including irrigation, nutrition, and pest/disease controlAbility to operate and maintain agricultural machineryStrong communication and leadership abilitiesGood problem‑solving skills and attention to detailPhysically able to work outdoors in all seasonsProfessional, reliable, and well‑organisedSpraying qualifications beneficialBASIS and FACTS qualifications advantageousInterested?Send your CV
