Come make an impact every day at Zebra.Serving as a key Hardware Program Manager for the Advanced Location Technologies (ALT) business unit, the Technical Hardware Program Manager, Advanced, is a senior technical development leader who operates across all levels of the company. This role is pivotal in driving strategic hardware initiatives and product creation, with a primary focus on championing and implementing established design processes to enhance efficiency and inspire innovation within the Business Unit.This leader is responsible for guiding cross‑functional electro‑mechanical hardware‑based product teams through influence and expertise, ensuring tight coordination with Engineering and Product Management from initial concept through to deployment to manufacturing. Key responsibilities include meeting complex program goals for product performance, quality, and manufacturability. In close collaboration with Product Management and Engineering, they work to define product requirements, solidify business cases, author development plans and execute commitments.Given our multitude of design and development partners, you will participate in negotiations involving Business Development, Finance, and Legal.This role is a minimum of 3‑days per week in either our Holtsville, NY (Long Island) office or Mississagua, Ontario, Canada office.This posting is for an existing vacancy at Zebra Technologies.ResponsibilitiesDrives execution ofhardwareproduct development inclusive of concept definition, requirements, architecture, validation test, and governance compliance to our Lifecycle Management framework.Organizes and presents business, technical and program status to Senior Leadership using digital media, dashboards and JIRA agile project management tools.Develops and manages program budgets, ensuring financial activities align with quarterly and annual metrics.Engages in strategic partnerships with technology companies that are developing adjacent solution elements. Partners with entities that add value to your business and solutions.Independently engages additional resources as needed to address program obstacles or delays, taking into consideration schedule and budget, adjusting the project with minimal impact to the business.Leads system integration planning, release management, and planning for demonstrations, proof of concepts and pilots.Leads multiple moderately complex projects simultaneously or manage a large program with cross‑functional teams in numerous locations and time zones.Drives execution of solutions inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.Translates customer problems into solution requirements.Builds relationships and works across all relevant areas of the solution business including Sales, Services, IT, Finance, Marketing, Product Management, Engineering, Operations and Support.Works independently with business in defining proof of value and customer’s return on investment.Executes program plan and budgets for multiple, large projects.Recommends corrective actions and implement changes.



Identifies and mitigates risks; develops and implementsrisk mitigation plans. Ensures alignment from key leaders of milestone achievement before moving the program forward.Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the business functions and processes in which the program is operating.Motivates a project team to ensure solutions are reliable and of quality, in a highly collaborative fashion.Demonstrates the ability to see cross‑functional impacts of decisions and project plans and execution. Balances scope, schedule and budget considerations to adjust the project with minimal impact to the business. Understands the business objectives of the program and assumes personal accountability for success of the program against those objectives.Coordinates deliverables and project assets to assist the project team.Anticipates and addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to significant in severity and escalates complex issues to management for assistance.Demonstrates advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and activities.Coaches or acts as escalation point for less senior program managers.Supports early stage go to market activities and transition to marketing.Develops and protects intellectual property; be well versed with IP fundamentals.Explores and understands competitive landscape in both product and business terms.Works closely with Portfolio Management to ensure strategic goals align and are represented in the innovation feature roadmap. Assists in the development of business plans, strategies and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.Partners with Zebra Ventures to identify entities that are added‑value to your business and solutions.Leads the creation of cross functional workstreams and drives execution for sales enablement, development and deployment.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree, or related technical BS degree, with MS preferredMinimum 8+ years of experience in Engineering/Program management and Scrum Master experience forhardwareproducts in fast paced environment.Minimum 8+ years of product development with 4+ years being in program management.Preferred QualificationsExperience inhardwareproduct development for consumer or enterprise products (such as cell phones, wearables, tablets, laptops, IoT devices etc.) highly desirableStrong strategic leadership and analytical skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsSolid critical thinking and questioning skillsSelf‑motivated, results driven, manages risks, and thrives in an workplace of uncertainty and continuous innovation.Ability to drive definition and creation of solutions from skeleton use casesPast responsibility for multiple significant delivered‑to market solutions in asset intelligence (Location Services, Machine Learning, Machine Vision)Experience working independently and as part of a team to solve difficult technical, quality, cost, and schedule challenges; well versed in risk management practicesAbility to translate customer problems into solution requirements, plan for demonstrations, proof of concepts and customer pilots, early stage go to market demonstrating proof of valueSalary: CAD $125,280 - CAD $175,280 yearlyZebra is an equal opportunity employer.
