GENERAL STATEMENT
OF JOB:
The Dutchess BOCES Adult Learning Institute is looking for enthusiastic and nurturing instructors for adults returning to the classroom with the goal of obtaining a Current York High School Equivalency Diploma (GED).

QUALIFICATIONS,
EXPERIENCE AND
COMPETENCIES:

- Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree K-12 Permanent Certification preferred, but not required. If no teaching certification, must be eligible and willing to apply for NY Adult Education Certification within 6 months of start date.
- The ideal candidate will have experience working with adults of wide-ranging socioeconomic, cultural, educational, and/or differently-abled backgrounds,



particularly in an educational setting.
- Must be confident teaching high school math and language skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Job duties include creating individualized lesson plans, public outreach, student communication, progress and attendance tracking, and assessment administration.
- Classes hours vary, depending on location but typically run 3 hours a day, 2-4 days a week, for a total of 6-9 hours weekly. Potential classroom instructors must be able to commit to a set weekly schedule, although applicants for substitute teachers on an as-needed basis are welcome!
- Classes are open entry and in person. Students are 18 and older.
