as needed.Maintains patient records and documents care provided to the patient by collecting information such as nursing observations, interventions, teaching, care evaluations and patient responses as per established policy and professional standards of practice; reports significant change or findings to the physician, Manager or other health care provider as required.Initiates discharge planning for patients on admission; intervenes as appropriate and refers patient to other disciplines as needed; acts as an advocate to protect and promote the patient's right to autonomy, respect, dignity and access to information.Maintains a safe and therapeutic setting for patients, visitors and staff adhering to hospital standards and other policies such as infection control, fire and other emergency procedures.Participates in the planning, implementation and/or evaluation of quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting relevant data; generates recommendations for alternative approaches to nursing care and identifies appropriate corrective action.Participates in the orientation and ongoing education of nursing staff and students by providing information and acting as a preceptor, as appropriate.Utilizes appropriate human and material resources in a cost effective manner in the delivery of patient care.Participates as an active member on nursing and/or hospital committees,
