Job TitleManager, Facilities OperationsLocationNorth Vancouver, BCJob SummaryThe Corporate Services Department - Civic Facilities Division of the City of North Vancouver seeks a Manager, Facilities Operations to lead the maintenance, construction, and renovation of civic facilities. The role blends operational expertise with people leadership, overseeing maintenance, construction, and renovation activities while ensuring facilities meet safety standards, budget expectations, and community needs. Reporting to the Director, Civic Facilities, you will manage the upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment and critical systems, prepare operating and capital budgets, hire and supervise staff, and oversee vendors and contractors.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage operating and capital budgets.Lead and supervise in‑house staff and coordinate vendor and contractor activities.Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, fire codes and internal policies, including emergency preparedness.Oversee renovations, new construction and efficiency initiatives; drive long‑term strategic planning for facility needs, space utilisation and energy management.Schedule preventive maintenance and inspections; manage monthly orperiodic inspections of building systems (HVAC, electrical distribution, fire alarm, etc.).Respond to and resolve facility‑related issues and emergencies.Manage contracts for services such as cleaning, security and landscaping.Liaise with senior management,
safety departments and external stakeholders.Allocate office space according to operational needs.Review utilities consumption and work to minimise costs.Prepare and present reports on recommended corrective actions.QualificationsMinimum 7 years of experience in facilities management with a strong background in construction and/or property management.Bachelor of Science or technical degree in Construction, Property Management or a related field (preferred); trade certification or equivalent training and experience (preferred).Knowledge of AutoCAD, construction planning, mechanical and electrical systems, building controls, fire protection, security systems and building automation systems.Proven ability to lead coordination meetings, facilitate progress and achieve operational objectives.Excellent relationship‑building skills, efficient customer service, and effective engagement with contractors.Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and MS Project; excellent verbal and written communication skills.Current Police Information Check (PIC) required.Remuneration and BenefitsSalary range: $119,964 – $141,132 per year (2024 rates). Salary will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
