Job SummaryThe Aquatopia Sous Chef is a leadership role. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Aquatopia Executive Chef to provide leadership in all aspects of food & beverage services including smooth running of the kitchen, maintaining product quality, overseeing kitchen operations, menu planning, food costing & budgeting, wedding & event catering production, health & safety, and recruitment, retention & development of kitchen employees.The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef in designing, coordinating, creating and executing all food & beverage elements for every Aquatopia event, ensuring that every event is a success by delivering a high level of quality & service and exceeding client expectations.ResponsibilitiesManage kitchen staff: assist with scheduling, training, biannual job performance reviews, ensuring employee development and safety. Plan, direct, and supervise food preparation and cooking activities for a full-service banqueting kitchen.Quality control: ensure food quality and consistency standards, cleanliness of food service facilities, staff training and qualification, and accurate administrative systems.Food presentation: assist with creating unique decorative plating options & food displays.Safety & sanitation: maintain an impeccably clean kitchen, manage repairs and maintenance of equipment, work with Public Health Inspectors.Food purchasing: coordinate planning, purchasing, receiving and inventorying all food & beverage supplies.Special projects:
assist with any in-house or off-premise projects related to food and beverage services.Leadership: lead by example and coach staff to maintain a positive, skilled workplace culture.Human resources: help source, interview, hire, and train kitchen staff.Administration: adhere to departmental budgets, provide post-event reporting and track results.QualificationsRed Seal Certification.Minimum of 10 years culinary experience with at least 5 years in a sous-chef capacity.Strong knowledge & understanding of all aspects of the kitchen.Effective leader, manager, trainer, coach, and administrator.Post secondary education and/or formal culinary mentorship training.Computer proficiency on all Apple devices.Calm leadership capacity in adverse and unexpected circumstances.Strong problem solving, decision-making, judgment.Strong initiative & client service orientation.Sound judgment, discretion & professional integrity.High energy, positive professional attitude.Business minded with appreciation for financial aspects of food industry.Available for evening and/or weekend work.Ability to multi-task in a busy workplace.Possess G2 driver’s licence.Applicant must currently reside in Canada as a landed immigrant or a Canadian citizen.Job DetailsJob type: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $56,160 – $62,400 per yearBenefits: Company events, Discounted or free foodWork location: In person, Carp, ON (must reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work).#J-18808-Ljbffr
