Base pay range

CA$20.00/hr – CA$20.00/hr

Temporary Full-Time (3-4 months contract with possibility of permanent employment)

Location: Abbotsford, BC

- Hourly Wage: $23–$26 per hour, based on experience
- Benefits: Medical and dental benefits available after a 90-day probation period for permanent staff only

Start Date:

- Ideal start: Mid-January 2026
- Training period: Approximately 1-2 weeks

Clinic Overview

We are a collaborative group of family physicians with a special interest in providing comprehensive maternity care within the Abbotsford community. Our clinic provides low-risk prenatal and postnatal care, labour and delivery support, and newborn care until babies are approximately 6–8 weeks of age. During this time, we act as the patient’s family physician until discharge back to their regular family doctor.

Our team currently includes:

- 7 regular physicians and 3 locum physicians
- 1 nurse providing weekly lactation consultations
- 1 postpartum care midwife working twice weekly
- 5 Medical Office Assistants (3 full-time, 2 part-time)

Physicians typically work 1–2 days per week, with 2–3 physicians in the clinic daily. Average patient volume is approximately 80–120 patients per day.

Position Summary

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) plays a key role in supporting physicians, clinical staff, and patients in a fast-paced maternity and family practice workplace. MOAs work as part of a close-knit team, providing front- and back-office administrative support to ensure efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Greet and assist patients in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner




- Manage high-volume phone lines, including appointment booking, patient inquiries, and message handling
- Register patients, update demographics, and maintain accurate electronic medical records
- Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-ups
- Support physicians and clinical staff with daily administrative tasks
- Handle billing, scanning, filing, and general clerical duties as required
- Work collaboratively with other MOAs, nurses, midwives, and physicians
- Open or close the clinic as scheduled (working alone for no more than one hour)

Work Schedule

- Hours: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday
- Shift times: Between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., depending on assigned shift
- All MOAs work as part of a team; no one works alone except during brief opening or closing periods

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

- Previous experience in a busy medical or office environment
- Comfortable managing a high volume of phone calls
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work well in a close, team-based environment

Preferred:

- MOA training or certification
- Experience in family practice, maternity, or women’s health settings
