Canadian Tire Corporation is seeking a Data Analyst (12-month contract) to support store operations and merchandising teams in Toronto, Ontario. This is a hands‑on, technical role focused on building datasets, analyzing performance, and enabling better day‑to‑day decisions in stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract and manipulate large datasets (sales, inventory, product, store performance) using SQL
- Clean and validate data to ensure accuracy and consistency across reporting
- Build and maintain datasets and data models to support reporting and analytics
- Develop dashboards and reports (Power BI) to track store and merchandising performance
- Support ad hoc analysis on assortment, pricing, promotions, and inventory movement
- Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities in store execution and product performance
- Work with stakeholders to translate business questions into data requirements and outputs
- Troubleshoot data issues and support ongoing improvements in data quality and reporting processes
Contract Scope
- Deliver clearly defined outputs (datasets, dashboards, analysis) within timelines
- Ramp quickly on existing data models, tools, and business context
- Operate independently on technical tasks with guidance from senior team members
- Support short-term priorities such as reporting builds, data validation, and deep-dive analysis
What You Bring
- Degree or certification in Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science,
or related field
- 1–2 years of analytics experience or relevant co‑op/internship
- Solid SQL skills (joins, aggregations, data transformation)
- Advanced Excel (data manipulation, pivot tables)
- Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for dashboarding
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets and ensure data quality
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving mindset
- Clear communication — able to explain outputs in simple business terms
- Python for data processing or automation is an asset
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake) is an asset
- Exposure to retail, merchandising, or operations analytics is an asset
- Understanding of basic data modelling concepts is an asset
Salary
Broadband salary range: $64,000 – $106,000. Typical hiring range: $64,000 – $85,000.
