SENIOR ENGAGEMENT ADVISOR
Victoria or Nanaimo
6-monthterm with possibility of extension

We’relooking for a collaborative, strategic, and highly skilledSenior Engagement Advisorto leadoperationally and reputationally significant projectcommunity and public engagements supporting priorityprojects acrossthe company.
In this role, you willact as a trusted advisor to internal teams, leading engagementstrategies and plans that support corporate policy development, companyplanningand major projects across BC Ferries. You will work with teams throughout the organization toidentifyengagement opportunities, bring the right people together and create meaningful opportunities for communities and partners to share their perspectivesand lived experience so BC Ferries can deliver better outcomesfor communities we serve.
This is an opportunity for an experienced engagement skilled who is equally comfortable developing strategy, writing compelling materials,facilitatingconversationsandrepresentingthe organization in public.You’llbe trusted to manage multiple complex initiatives, navigate sensitiveissuesand translate technical information into clear,accessibleand meaningful communications.
The Role
Reporting to theManager,CommunityRelations, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
Drafting and developing engagement strategies and plans for company-wide/corporate and external engagements to support policy development,planningand projects with various teams throughout the company;
Leading and coordinating engagement initiatives involving communities, government,partnersand other interest holders;
Identifyingopportunities to proactively engage and build meaningful relationships with external audiences;
Drafting high-quality engagement materials,
including strategies and plans, briefing and information notes, display boards, newsletters, presentations, reports, speeches,correspondenceand online engagement content;
Translating complex and technical information into clear,accessibleand plain-language materials for a variety of audiences;
Planning and supporting public events,workshopsand other engagement activities;
Facilitating meetings, working groups and internal or external task forces;
Working closely with colleagues across Public Affairs & Marketing and other divisions to align engagement activities with broader corporate initiatives;
Working independently to produce high profile engagement products that require little revision;
Responding torequests from communities, partners and interest groups as needed;
Managing multiple projects and priorities while delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
What you bring to the team
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, communityengagementor equivalent
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and familiarity with International Association of PublicParticipation(IAP2) foundations and facilitation skills are preferred.
4-6 years of experience in a public relations or external engagement or communications role with high public visibility. Candidates with established interest holder connections are highly preferred
4-6 years of experiencein drafting engagement materials, coordinating day-to-day engagement activities, planning events and workshops, andfacilitatinggroup conversations
4-6 years of experience managing internal resources and contract suppliers
Proven record of creating,leadingand delivering impactful engagement strategies and plans aligned to business objectives
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to build effective relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
What we offer
This is a regular full-time position with a target salary range of $83,500 -$104,300 per annum.The starting salary isdeterminedbased on the successful candidate’sknowledge,experienceand internal equity.
