We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and people-focused Customer Service Representative to join our team in a full time temporary/relief capacity. This position term will be for four (4) months or until the return of the incumbent to full-time duties.

The Customer Service Representative responds to general inquiries about City business and operations, supports financial and accounting processes, maintains accurate records, and provides back-up clerical support to City departments. If you enjoy helping the public, maintaining accurate records, handling detailed financial and administrative tasks, and being a dependable resource for colleagues across the organization, we'd love to hear from you. The position's core duties include, but are not limited to:
Greet visitors, answer general public inquiries, operate the main telephone switchboard, and refer inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member as needed.
Process and monitor applications, permits, and associated forms to ensure submissions are complete and meet municipal requirements.
Assist with records and transactions related to accounts payable, utilities, licenses, taxes, online payments, fines and fees, accounts receivable, payroll, and cemetery functions.
Maintain departmental files, databases, correspondence, statistics, reports, inspection records, parking tickets, dog licenses, tax searches, Land Title information, journal entries, service cards, and related records.
Carry out payment processing, handle cash and cheques, reconcile receipts, prepare bank deposits, and organize revenue received through transit fares and parking meters.
Provide clerical support to all City departments, receive and redirect public complaints,
assist with data input and reporting, and perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications
Grade 12 education, plus post-secondary education in business or accounting.
Completion of Accounting 1 and 2 level courses.
Minimum one year’s experience in a general office or financial/accounting environment.
Minimum one year’s experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Six months’ experience in a customer service role, preferably in a municipal setting.
General knowledge of accounting and finance principles, with the ability to learn and use municipal accounting software.
Proven ability to use tact, diplomacy, and courtesy when working with the public, elected officials, and staff members.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and prepare correspondence quickly and accurately.
Ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment with constant interruptions while maintaining sustained attention to detail and solid organizational skills.

Remuneration for this position is in accordance with the CUPE Local 1908 Collective Agreement, beginning at $32.42 per hour plus 14% in lieu of statutory holidays, benefits and vacation. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to join the union and pay union dues via payroll deduction.
