As a Shelter Custodian, you will be a vital member of the VNFC Custodial Team, directly supporting both the Shelter Manager and the Building Services Manager. Primary duties include sanitizing facilities, managing grounds maintenance, and adhering to safety protocols for communicable diseases. An understanding of Indigenous cultures and community engagement is crucial in this role, fostering a respectful workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
• Disinfect washrooms, floors, and high-touch areas
• Launder and maintain shelter bedding
• Clean grounds and manage debris
• Ensure safe snow removal and salt pathways
• Keep cleaning supplies organized and protected
Requirements:
• High school graduation or equivalent education
• Minimum 3 years of custodial experience
• First Aid and WHMIS certified
• Experience in Indigenous community settings preferred
• Capable of handling physical tasks
