Environmental Compliance OfficerAbout the JobProtect Ontario's air, land, water, species at risk and their habitats. Join our team as an Environmental Compliance Officer and play a crucial role in protecting Ontario's workplace. You'll conduct inspections, collect samples, and ensure compliance with environmental laws.ResponsibilitiesConduct detailed inspections independently, check compliance, and write reports for various programs.Respond to environmental incidents, follow up to ensure rules are followed, and report on possible environmental impacts.Find, study, and solve complex environmental problems, including when the causes are unclear.Provide authoritative advice on environmental laws.Suggest fixes or legal actions and ensure compliance programs are followed.Testify in court and issue official orders.Maintain good communication with relevant parties, the public, and clients.QualificationsMandatory RequirementsValid class G driver's license or equivalent.Specialized Knowledge and ExperienceInterpret and apply environmental legislation, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality standards to assess and promote regulatory compliance.Knowledge of environmental sciences, technology, and protection, including:Pollution sources and controls for stationary and mobile sourcesSpills contamination impacts and clean-up responsibilitiesWater treatment processes (drinking water and wastewater)Actions required to address adverse water quality incidentsSample collection and field measurement equipment and techniquesIndicators of impacts to human health, flora/fauna, and the natural environmentJudgement, Decision-Making, Influence and ComplianceEvaluate situations, assess non-compliance risks,
