Duties
The Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
Intent of the process
Intent to fill one (1) indeterminate position with an applicant self-identifying as Inuk under the Nunavut Agreement (i.e. beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) residing in Arviat, Nunavut. Should there be insufficient number of applicants; the position may be filled with a person residing in Arviat, Nunavut. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff this position or similar positions or for future term, acting, assignment, secondment, deployment, or indeterminate opportunities. Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process. Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment,
notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance
Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work alone.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
Operational Requirements
Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.

Experience in performing general clerical or administrative duties (e.g. data entry, providing reception services, filing, sorting mail, etc.)
Experience working in a Northern setting, particularly in Indigenous communities.
Ability to communicate in Inuktitut (writing and/or oral)
Persons self-identifying as Nunavut Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement may be selected for appointment to fulfill organizational needs.
