Job Description
Nordique Fire Protection Inc. is seeking a dedicated and motivated Fire Protection Technician/Labourer to join our team. This position involves supporting our fire protection services throughout Whitehorse and The Yukon, including the installations, inspection, servicing and maintenance of fire protection equipment and systems.
We are looking for someone who is physically fit, organized, dependable, self-motivated and able to work independently. Previous fire protection experience is an asset but is not necessarily required for the right candidate. Training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with inspection, service and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers.
Assist with commercial kitchen fire suppression system inspections, maintenance, and installations.
Assist with installation and servicing of fire protection equipment.
Load, unload and transport fire extinguishers, cylinders, tools and equipment.
Perform general shop and warehouses duties.
Maintain tools, equipment, service vehicles and work areas.
complete service documentation and inspections records.
Travel to customer locations throughout Whitehorse and the Yukon.
Work at commercial, industrial, governement , mining and remote work sites.
Follow company and customer safety procedures.
Perform general labour and other duties associated with our fire protection operations.
Qualifications
Have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a good driving record
Be physically capable of lifting and carrying fire extinguishers,
cylinders and other equipment.
Be comfortable performing hands-on mechanical work.
Be dependable and punctual.
Be organized and able to manage assigned work.
Be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Have good communication and customer-service skills.
Be willing to learn fire protection inspection and servicing procedures.
Be willing and able to travel throughout the Yukon when required.
Eligible to work in Canada
Mechanical aptitude, construction experience, fire-service experience, fire-extinguisher servicing experience or other related trades experience would be consider an asset.
Work Conditions
This is an hands-on position involving work in our shops well as customer locations.
The position may involve:
Lifting and moving heavy euipment
Driving to job sites
working in commercial kitchens, mechanical areas and industrial facilities.
Travel to remote Yukon communities, mines and camps.
work outside normal business hours depending on customer requirements.
The schedule can be flexible, depending on workloads and projects.
