Working with one of our top financial clients, this role calls for an Application Support Specialist - Java/J2EE & Banking. This position involves providing advanced application support within a dynamic team environment, ensuring seamless operations, troubleshooting, and incident resolution for critical banking systems.
Pay rate range (CAD): $47.16/hr - $55.59/hr
Responsibilities Develop and implement standard support models and processes aligned with industry best practices
Conduct detailed investigations of incidents to identify root causes and implement effective remediation plans
Serve as a subject matter expert, providing insights and recommendations based on emerging technology trends and industry standards
Define, deploy, and lead system and application activities to support client needs and operational excellence
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance customer experience, system availability, and support cost management
Manage complex application deployments in load-balanced, service-oriented environments
Assist in testing, debugging, and performance analysis of environment components
Troubleshoot initial failures, coordinate resolution efforts, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
Collaborate with architects to ensure environment modifications interact correctly and meet performance requirements
Work with IT and business leaders, vendors, and partners to assess project viability and communicate issues clearly
Lead or contribute to project management processes, including pre- and post-implementation reviews
Integrate technical solutions seamlessly within existing business and systems environments
Ensure security standards are maintained across processes, information exchange,



and system implementations
Provide second and third-level support for production incidents, acting as a primary contact for business communications
Drive control environments including change management, compliance, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives
Work strategically with development and delivery teams to improve application stability and resilience
Desired Skill-Set Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, Splunk, Dynatrace, PagerDuty, Linux/Unix, and Certificate Management
Strong understanding of Java/J2EE applications
Over 10 years of application support, incident, problem, and change management experience
Minimum of 10+ years at a banking or financial institution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to lead and delegate responsibilities, coaching team members
Nice to Have Certifications in Java, Azure, microservices, or automation
Leadership experience in complex support environments
Knowledge of authentication technologies (SSO, MFA, OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect)
