Enhance the success of K-8 Indigenous students as the Indigenous Supports Advisor with the District School Board of Niagara. Support language and cultural education, working closely with students and families to bolster their experience.
As an Indigenous Supports Advisor specializing in language, you will play a crucial role in promoting Kanien'kéha (Mohawk) or Anishinaabemowin (Ojibway) within the school system. Your work will be instrumental in fostering cultural identity and emotional well-being among Indigenous students while collaborating with educators. This position is designed for motivated individuals passionate about improving educational outcomes and leading students and schools towards success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate Kanien'kéha or Anishinaabemowin language education
• Support cultural identity and connection to school
• Work with Indigenous students to boost engagement and attendance
• Collaborate with staff on student well-being strategies
• Provide individual supports for social and emotional challenges
Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in relevant field
• Proficiency in Kanien'kéha or Anishinaabemowin
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and supportive practices
• Experience in fostering student engagement and success
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
