VISION SUPPORT TEACHER (TEMPORARY, 1.0 FTE)
School District No.43 (Coquitlam) is the third largest school district in BC with approximately 4,400 employees and 32,000 students in 70 schools. We serve the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra. The Coquitlam School District invites applications from individuals for the temporary position of Vision Support Teacher.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Education of the visually impaired

Qualifications in orientation and mobility are preferred

Valid BC Teaching certificate

Ability to travel between sites

Candidates Should Have:

Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team

High level of interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to prioritize

Ability to collaborate effectively with school teams, families and community agencies

Knowledge of student eligibility for Ministry of Education Vision and Deafblind categories

Ability to provide universal tier one supports for students with vision challenges in classrooms





Ability to provide program/resource development for students with vision-based needs and to contribute to IEP development

Ability to consult with district and school-based staff, parents, and community agencies to support students with vision-based needs

Knowledge of current assistive technologies to support students with vision needs

A willingness to provide a variety of in-service opportunities to school and district staff

A willingness to attend district-based professional development opportunities in an effort to stay current and implement best practices
