Position Type: PermanentClosing Date: 2026-06-04DUTIES AND TASKSEmergency and Response: maintain personal knowledge and skills in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP) to deliver optimum patient care.Safely operate MHS-West vehicles in accordance with the MHS-West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations.Stock and maintain vehicles in a state of readiness at all times.Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety and stabilization of the patient.Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient.Document all patient care, assessments, and skills within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion.Punctual and ready to respond at the start of the shift.Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment.Follow the MHS-West chain of command.CommunicationCreate and maintain fully completed patient care reports (ePCRs).Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with all provincial and federal regulations.Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS-West.Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to the General Manager of MHS-West or designate.EducationDevelop and provide continuing educational requirements as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics.Maintain functional awareness of MHS-West Operational Guidelines and AHS medical control guidelines.Participate actively in the MHS-West Quality Assurance Program.Develop a plan for maintaining and improving self-directed professional growth.Physical AbilityMust be in good physical health with no disabilities that will impair duties as a paramedic.Perform considerable lifting and movement of heavy patients.Extricate patients from hazardous environments.Advise the superintendent of injuries that will impair duties.Public RelationsActively participate in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS-West.Maintain skilled appearance of the approved uniform and hygienic and grooming standards.SafetyHazard exposure to violent behaviour, traffic hazards, communicable diseases, extreme weather conditions.Work within present considerable hazards.QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or G.E.D.Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4.Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics.Completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs.Certified in and maintains CPR certification.FARE Certificate required.Salary and Working HoursSalary: $30.74 - $38.79 hourly as per MHSW Central Alberta Collective Agreement.Apparatus call sign: REDD-1B130Hours of work: 12 hr shifts - 4 days (1330-0130), 4 days off.#J-18808-Ljbffr
