Join Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in as a First Nation Education Advocate in Dawson. This role emphasizes providing academic and emotional support for First Nations students.
You will be responsible for assisting K-12 students who require additional support with their studies and well-being at school. Working under the HätrʼunohtänZho Manager, you will bridge the communication between families and educational institutions. Your focus includes facilitating academic success by guiding students through required curricula and available online courses through Yukon University.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct support to First Nations youth in academics
• Serve as a liaison to improve communication with families
• Assist students in completing educational requirements
• Design and implement targeted educational programs
• Carry out case work and administrative responsibilities
Requirements:
• Grade 12 certificate with relevant educational background
• Robust skills in supporting K-12 students
• Familiarity with First Nations traditions and values
• Prior experience interacting with youth in schools
• Proficient in conflict resolution strategies
