ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Eastern Rural Zone has one (1) full time Obstetrician/Gynecologist position available at Carbonear General Hospital in Carbonear, NL.
The OBS/GYN department at Carbonear General Hospital is comprised of three (3) full-time specialists accountable for the provision of comprehensive health care services to patients.
The successful candidate will share 24-hour on-call services equitably among the OBS/GYN team.
The hospital has 70 acute care beds with a 6-bed ICU. Specialty services include Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Family Medicine (Hospitalist), and 24-hour Emergency coverage. Further supportive services include 24-hour diagnostic imaging and laboratory services, physiotherapy, respiratory therapy, chemotherapy, pharmacy, dialysis, ICU/Cardiac, and palliative care. Visiting services for ophthalmology and urology are also available.
Work Environment
Carbonear is a beautiful rural town approximately 100 kilometres outside of St. John's, serving around 50,000 people in the Rural Avalon Region. QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (or equivalent)
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology services to patients at Carbonear General Hospital
- Share 24-hour on-call coverage equitably among the OBS/GYN team
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team including Anesthesia, Pediatrics, and other specialty services
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
As per Memorandum of Agreement
The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from CAD 263,672 – CAD 285,596 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter. Health and dental benefits, vacation, and various leaves including family and study leave are available in accordance with the current MOA.
