Local Pharmacovigilance Officer (6 to 12-month contract)

Laval, Quebec (Hybrid)

Introduction

The Local Pharmacovigilance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the collection, assessment, reporting, and management of safety information associated with company products is conducted in accordance with global pharmacovigilance standards and local regulatory requirements.

The role supports the oversight and maintenance of the local pharmacovigilance system, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations while contributing to patient safety, risk management activities, quality system oversight, inspection readiness, and effective collaboration with global safety teams.

Responsibilities

- Maintain the local pharmacovigilance system in compliance with global and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage adverse event reports and other pharmacovigilance cases, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Conduct literature surveillance and support local signal detection activities.
- Oversee safety reporting activities for clinical studies, patient support programs, and other applicable initiatives.
- Support the preparation and submission of aggregate safety reports and risk management activities.
- Respond to safety-related inquiries from regulatory authorities and support safety communications.
- Maintain pharmacovigilance quality systems, including training, documentation, compliance monitoring, and record management.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance agreements, audits, inspections, and CAPA activities.




- Monitor changes to pharmacovigilance regulations and assess their impact on local processes.
- Promote a culture of patient safety and regulatory compliance across the organization.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience managing adverse event case processing and expedited safety reporting.
- Working knowledge of Canadian pharmacovigilance regulations, Health Canada requirements, and Good Pharmacovigilance Practices (GVP).
- Experience supporting local pharmacovigilance activities, including literature surveillance, signal management, and regulatory submissions.
- Experience contributing to audits, inspections, CAPA activities, and pharmacovigilance quality systems.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environment.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and verbal.
