The Land Based Assistant will facilitate knowledge transfer through meaningful engagement with Elders and community members. You'll help preserve traditional practices, encourage language learning, and support students in a culturally rich environment. Your role is key in empowering students through their cultural heritage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support acquisition and maintenance of cultural resources
• Assist in practical traditional knowledge applications like harvesting
• Promote Indigenous languages relevant to the educational context
• Facilitate connections with Elders for cultural learning
• Provide opportunities for Traditional Arts & Crafts activities
Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of Indigenous traditions and history
• Minimum of three years' experience in Indigenous settings
• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary Indigenous issues
• Preferred post-secondary education in Indigenous studies
• Required Criminal Reference and Vulnerable Sector Check
