We’re on the search for a General Manager on behalf of our client, a private, 77-suite long-term care and complex care residence in Nanaimo, BC. If you have 3–5+ years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, long-term care, or a related healthcare setting — including experience stabilizing a team through turnover or transition — this may be an opportunity for you.
Reporting to the Director of Operations & Sales, the General Manager will take ownership of the overall operation of a close-knit, community-style long-term care, complex care, and memory living residence, including resident care, programs, services, environmental coordination, and fiscal performance. This is an prospect for an experienced operator who can work through the home’s history, rebuild trust and consistency across the leadership team, and firmly establish consistent policies, procedures, and standards of care. The role calls for both business and clinical credibility: the ability to manage financials, staffing, and vendor/contractor needs, while engaging knowledgeably with the clinical side of long-term and complex care.
The General Manager will lead a team of approximately seven,

including a Director of Care, Office Manager, Maintenance Manager, Food Services Manager, Recreation/Activities lead, and Sales Consultant, coaching department managers to run their areas effectively while ensuring consistent, high-quality resident care and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities span resident care and risk management, staffing and employee relations, operating and capital budgets, and suite occupancy, all performed in the best interest of residents and their families. A Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) designation is strongly preferred given the clinical complexity of the home, though candidates without a clinical background will also be considered if they bring strong operational and people–leadership strength.
At 77 suites, the home offers a close-knit, community feel that is often considered a highly manageable size for long-term care leadership, allowing the General Manager to build strong, personal relationships with residents, families, and staff.
