Overview Contract: Until end of year- potential for extension.
Hybrid Toronto 1-2 days/week.
A large financial institution is seeking a Temporary Internal Audit Manager – Regulatory Compliance to support internal audit engagements and regulatory validation activities. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 8 years of experience in internal audit, regulatory compliance, risk management, or a related discipline, along with mandatory banking industry experience. This role will focus on evaluating regulatory compliance, risk management practices, internal controls, and remediation efforts within a complex banking setting.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
Minimum 8 years of experience in Internal Audit, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, or a related function.
Banking industry experience is required. Candidates without experience working within a bank will not be considered.
Strong experience leading risk-based internal audits, compliance reviews, regulatory validations, and control assessments.
Experience assessing and testing controls related to regulatory compliance, risk management, finance, operations, and technology.
Compliance experience within banking organizations is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of banking regulatory frameworks and regulatory expectations.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting large domestic or global banking institutions.
Experience with regulatory remediation programs, issue validation, regulatory examinations, or enforcement-related activities.
Familiarity with OSFI regulatory requirements and Canadian banking regulations.
Experience with OSFI E-13 (Technology and Cyber Risk Management) is a significant asset and will be viewed very favorably.
CPA, CIA, CISA, CAMS, or similar professional certification preferred.
Key Responsibilities Lead and execute internal audit engagements from planning through reporting.
Conduct risk assessments and evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls.
Lead regulatory issue validation and remediation testing activities.
Assess compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and corporate policies.
Prepare audit reports, workpapers, and executive-level presentations.
Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance, Risk, Finance, and Technology stakeholders.
Monitor emerging regulatory developments impacting the banking sector.
Provide leadership and oversight across multiple audit and validation workstreams.
