About The Role
The Controller leads FNB Trust’s client financial reporting, client accounting operations, and internal controls for the trust company. Managing $5.5 billion in AUA across 38+ high-value client accounts, this role ensures accuracy, timeliness and completeness of reporting and filings. The primary focus is the strict oversight of all outgoing and incoming client payments, client accounting and meeting statutory reporting deadlines and client trust agreement requirements. This full-time permanent ‘hybrid’ position can be based either out of our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan or Vancouver, British Columbia offices. Both locations are situated on First Nations Land.
About You
Demonstrated experience handling complex payment processing and multi-account environments.
Exposure to trust accounting, treasury operations, or cash management activities considered a strong asset.
Experience supporting audits, financial reviews, or senior financial staff is preferred.
Previous experience working with financial institutions, or investment-related reporting is an asset.
Here’s What You Will Be Doing Own the financial reporting process, producing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual client financial statements for the boards of trustees and chiefs and councils.
Direct client accounting, managing the general ledger, the chart of accounts, accruals,



bank and investment account reconciliations and month-end close schedules.
Coordinate statutory filings, client tax requirements, including federal T3 filings.
Client Payment Oversight & Trust Accounting
Oversee all client payments, establishing multi-level authorization controls for wires, EFTs, cheques, treasury and investment rebalancing.
Manage client trust accounting, validating fee calculations, client billing, interest allocations and inflation protection hedges.
Enforce trust agreements, overseeing all payment requests and asset movements against specific client mandates and deed restrictions.
Ensure total fund segregation, maintaining absolute accounting separation between corporate expenses and client trust expenses.
Review fiduciary tax reporting, signing off on T3 trust information returns, tax slips, and specialized client statements.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Meet statutory deadlines, ensuring the timely submission of all reporting and financial data filings.
Lead risk and internal audit reviews, serving as the primary point of contact for reviewers and auditors.
Design control frameworks, draft processes and procedures specifically for accounting and payment processing.
Coordinate annual audits, leading the preparation and delivery of all working papers for external corporate and client trust auditors.
Qualifications Active Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in positive standing.
University degree in accounting, finance, commerce, or business administration.
Minimum 5 years of public accounting practice experience along with a CPA designation.
Proven track record designing and managing high-value treasury, cash management, or payment authorization workflows.
