The Opportunity: The Drug Plan and Extended Benefits Branch, Ministry of Health, is seeking an experienced pharmacist for the role of Senior Pharmaceutical Policy and Program Consultant within the Professional Practice Unit. This position focuses on advancing community pharmacy practice in Saskatchewan.
Reporting to the Director, Skilled Practice, the successful candidate will apply leadership and technical expertise to support the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of ministry pharmacy programs, policies, and initiatives. The role requires the ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and apply strong negotiation skills in the development and management of service provider agreements.
The position involves building and maintaining effective relationships with internal ministry partners, community pharmacists, regulatory and professional organizations, and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will use strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to identify and recommend changes to legislation, regulations, policies, and standards, and to resolve complex pharmacy practice issues.
The ideal candidate will have a pharmacy degree, several years of recent community pharmacy experience, and management experience in a pharmacy or health-related setting. Licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals is required. Experience participating in regulatory or professional committees, along with knowledge of the Pharmaceutical Information Program, data sharing agreements, and privacy legislation, is considered an asset.
