Provide essential support to Aboriginal students with School District 8 as a Cultural Support Worker. This position emphasizes cultural education and emotional support within a cooperative school environment, Monday through Friday.
As an integral part of the Indigenous Education program, you will foster a sense of belonging while supporting students in learning about their rich cultural heritage. Collaborating closely with families, educational staff, and community leaders will enhance the educational outcomes of students of Aboriginal ancestry. You'll play a vital role in addressing the unique needs of each student while promoting educational success and attendance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Offer trauma-informed academic and cultural support
• Attend meetings to discuss student needs and resources
• Implement strategies that align with Local Education Agreement goals
• Help facilitate school-to-school transitions for students
• Educate families on community support agencies available
Requirements:
• Grade 12 completion required
• Experience working within Indigenous communities
• Deep understanding of local Aboriginal cultures and protocols
• Strong initiative and teamwork skills
• Current Class 5 Driver’s License required
