Duties
This position is responsible for overseeing lifeguard and cashier staff and coordinating all aspects of daily pool operations. Responsibilities include staff supervision and scheduling, reception and customer service functions, responding to public inquiries, monitoring facility cleanliness, and supporting operational efficiency. This role plays a key part in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment while delivering a high-quality experience for guests and staff.

Intent of the process
The results of this process will be used to fill two term vacancies and may be used in the future to fill permanent or temporary vacancies that may arise at the GS MPS 05 C3 group and level, in the same, or other, areas within the Parks Canada Agency with full or part-time hours for various tenures, such as: Indeterminate, Term, Acting Assignment or Assignment at level, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Conditions of employment
• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance. Learn more about Security Screening (https://parks.canada.ca/agence-agency/emplois-jobs/securite-security).
• Possession and maintenance of Occupational Certifications.
• Undergo and meet the requirements to work as a lifeguard, including occupations certifications, ongoing in-service training and regular evaluations to Lifesaving Society standards.
Operational Requirements
• Willingness and ability to perform a variety of tasks (i.e. cashier, janitorial, pool and grounds maintenance, including snow removal).
• Willingness to perform under reasonable physical stresses (i.e. heavy lifting, pushing or pulling, working with cleaning chemicals, etc.).
• Willingness to wear identifier clothing and personal safety equipment.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays,
overtime and outdoors in various weather conditions.

EDUCATION

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS*
• A valid Canadian National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
• CPR “C” level
• Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid or International Red Cross First Aid or International St John’s Ambulance First Aid
* Copies of current certificates (awards) will be required at the time of interview.
EXPERIENCE
• Experience in direct supervision of personnel, including coordinating and monitoring daily activities, training, and managing performance.
• Experience in planning and/or providing services to the public.
• Experience in cash handling, and/or balancing daily sales.
• Experience in pool operations.

KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge of health and safety best practices, including safe cleaning practices.
• Knowledge of swimming pool facilities operations, acts and regulations.
