About the Role Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their product development team in Kimberley . You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient APIs that power our core products and services. This role requires a deep understanding of backend systems, database design, and best practices in API development. You will work in a collaborative environment, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to architectural decisions, driving the technological evolution of our platform from Kimberley .
Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reliable RESTful APIs using modern backend technologies.
Develop and optimize database schemas and queries for efficiency and scalability.
Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code, adhering to coding standards.
Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers to define API requirements and functionality.
Implement security best practices and ensure data protection within API services.




Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues in production and development environments.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
Solid proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, Go).
Extensive experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
Solid understanding of database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB) and ORMs.
Experience with caching mechanisms, message queues, and distributed systems is a plus.
