Care Support Assistant – Cheltenham Community – North York. Rate of Pay: $20.98 (as per collective agreement). This posting is for a new position.

The Care Support Assistant is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.

Responsibilities

- Provide day to day care and support to each individual resident, ensuring a warm, safe workplace and meeting their comfort and welfare needs.
- Support residents to prepare for and participate in Care Community events that promote a positive resident experience.
- Act as a resident companion as directed, providing comfort, support and companionship to the residents.
- Assist with table/tray preparation, serving of beverages and accompaniments, and serving of food.
- Complete laundry and housekeeping duties as directed, including restocking shelves, making beds, transporting personal laundry to and from the laundry to the residents’ rooms, organizing closets, and cleaning bedside tables.
- Participate in admission orientation and the transfer process of residents as directed.




- Transport residents to and from their rooms, recreational activities, health office, and dining room as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma.
- Safe Food Handling Certificate and WHMIS certificate.
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families and visitors.
- Ability to model the warmth of human connection in communication with residents, families, and visitors.
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
- All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Applicable to Ontario applicants).
- All successful candidates must meet the provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.

Bonus Points

- Experience working with seniors is preferred.
