This position will manage the North Slave and South Slave electrical networks, working closely with the Manager of System Control in the Energy South Division. Responsibilities include monitoring generation and distribution systems while using the SCADA system for operational adjustments. You'll also provide critical reports and maintain effective communication during outages to reassure the public.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and adjust hydro and diesel generation as needed
• Prepare detailed reports using complex Excel spreadsheets
• Start and stop hydro turbines and diesel engines via SCADA
• Execute switching procedures and issue Work Protection Permits
• Restore systems after disturbances and complete outage reports
Requirements:
• High School Diploma with 5+ years’ experience in electrical/mechanical trade
• Training in Power Engineering or related field preferred
• Strong communication skills for public interaction during outages
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and telemetry data
• Valid class 5 driver's license required
