Job TitleParks & Recreation Facilities AttendantLocationParks & Recreation - Parry Sound, ONOverviewLocated amidst the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay and a 2.5‑hour drive north of Toronto, the Town of Parry Sound offers an exceptional quality of life. This role assists in the operation and maintenance of the Corporation's recreation facilities, parks and trails, and in the delivery of recreation programs and special events.Essential Duties & Responsibilitiesundertakes inside and outside maintenance operations, mechanical and technical repairs to equipment and facilities, in accordance with the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Management Policy & Procedures.Assists in the care, maintenance and operation of parks, properties and recreation services, special events and programs.Strictly observes occupational health and safety practices and adheres to all applicable acts, regulations, policies and procedures.Completes daily inspection reports and records as required and performs minor repairs as needed.Maintains discipline among users of the facilities.Performs other related duties within the general parameters of this position as reasonably requested by the Lead hand – Parks & Recreation or Manager, Parks and Recreation.Education, Experience, Knowledge & SkillsCompletion of Grade12 or equivalent.ORFA Certified Ice Technician and Certified Grounds Technician,
or willingness to obtain.Three to five years’ experience preferred.Valid “G” driver’s license.CPR/First Aid certification.Mechanical and construction skills to operate and maintain equipment such as trucks, ice resurfacer, facilities, edgers, and grounds maintenance equipment preferred.Understanding of horticultural, arboricultural, turf maintenance and property maintenance practices.Initiative and public profile requiring good communication and public relations skills.Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical & plumbing.Ice Technician / Grounds Technician experience of3years (required).Certified Grounds Technician (required).Compensation & BenefitsFull‑time permanent Union position, 40‑hour work week.Compensation ranges from $30.36 to $33.35 per hour.
