Join a long standing and stable Alberta based Non-Profit organization with a focus on supporting marginalized communities. Reporting to the CEO, this is a broad hands-on position leading a team of 5 people responsible for the day-to-day financial and accounting functions. As a CPA, you are the main contact for multiple funding agencies (federal, provincial, municipal) plus other funders, and department directors and the senior management team regarding regulatory requirements, budgetary, and financial issues ensuring all financial operations complywith accounting best practices and Canadian accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations.Primary responsibilities include providing effective financial leadership and management of accounting, financial reporting, tax filing, human resources and payroll, salary negotiations, third party employeebenefits, insurance, externalfinancing, budgets, businessinvestments, cash flow modeling, projections and forecasts, audits, and various analyses both for many of the organization's business units and at the corporate level.You will lead the general improvement of management information systems and accounting practices, develop an annual operating plan including business plans, operational requirements, organizational structure, staffing and budgets that support the strategic plan, and implement the approvedannual operating plan consistent with the strategic direction,
financial limits, and operating objectives of the organization. You will work collaboratively with the team of Auditors to implement all recommendations and prepare year-end books. Present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to Executives and Board of Directors, including statements of revenue and expenses for multiple programs. Together with the CEO and the senior management team, you will review and provide financial guidance with respect to new business opportunities.In this role you will serve as an external spokesperson and liaison for the organization, including effectively managing relations with external stakeholders and funding agencies, external auditors, insurance brokers, bonding agency, benefit administrators and manage banking relationships in the financial and investment communities.Qualifications and experience include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a CPA designation and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting or finance position.This is an IN-OFFICE position, and experience working in a Non-Profit business workplace is mandatory.Compensation includes a salary of $110-125K, comprehensive health benefits, 4 weeks’ vacation, and a pension plan.Please send your resume to
