Description: ILSC Vancouver Juniors Residential Program at UBC is seeking qualified anddynamic ESL Teachers available to work part-time, in a friendly, quick-pacedenvironment.
Our students are ages -.
Teachers prepare lessons designed to increasestudents language skills, their accuracy and fluency, appropriate to a broadrange of situations and needs, and in accordance with the ILSC Curriculum
Guidelines and Course Outlines.
High quality delivery is expected.
This is a parttime, fixed-term position consisting of instructional hours per week.
The schedule timeline and hourly requirements are as follows: Pre-program staff training will take place between June , , to June , Your weekly work schedule will consist of five mornings per week, Monday-Friday, from : AM-: PM Job Duties: The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Teachers prepare lessons designed to increase students language skills, their accuracyand fluency, appropriate to a broad range of situations and needs, and in accordance withthe ILSC Curriculum Guidelines and Course Outlines.
High quality delivery is expected.
Teaching hours of English lessons over a five-day week (Monday Fridaymornings from : AM-:PM) Eliciting students interests and language needs in an organized way Preparing lessons using recommended resource materials (or substitutesown resources in consultation with the Centre Director) Creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation and leadership Evaluating student progress and completing academic records as requiredby the Centre Director (, class records of attendance, student reports andprogress reports) Co-operating with the Centre Director and on occasions with third partyagents, colleagues from language agencies, and accrediting Inspectors inthe observation and evaluation of lessons Assisting with the welcome,
induction and testing of students on the firstmorning of class Attending staff meetings for briefing and discussion of academic andwelfare matters The teacher is expected to use a range of modern and traditional language learning techniques and methodology including the following: Building students vocabulary acquisition for formal and informal situations dialogues, discussion, role-plays, outings Introducing, practicing and reviewing language structures (grammar) usinga communicative approach Developing communication strategies such as initiating, maintaining,closing of verbal interactions across a wide spectrum of situations drawnfrom daily life Increasing communicative skills through appropriate question and answertechniques, presentations, decision-making, offering feedback to others,analyzing and evaluating situations, negotiating, debating, etc.
Shaping pronunciation and speech production towards natural English Supporting and encouraging students to self-correct Evaluating and offering feedback to the students in ways that increase theirself-confidence in using English Incorporating social media and planning age-appropriate language learningactivities to engage and motivate students Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Required: All ESL teachers at the ILSC Juniors Residential Program at UBC must possess the following qualifications: A completed Bachelors degree A completed TESL certificate recognized by TESL Canada (or equivalent, CELTA) Experience teaching and working with students aged - years old Please indicate in your application that you possess the above qualifications.

Required: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without any restriction to work in childcare, primary/secondary school teaching, or health service field occupations.
